It includes colourful charts that indicate brushing requirements and detail how active and vocal each breed tends to be, and a special section with valuable tips on what to look for when choosing a kitten.

I have not seen the whole video, but I thought this part on the Bengal cat was worth sharing.

Claire Robson has very good advice on choosing a Bengal cat over at this Bengal cat webzine. Advice like the following:

Is a Bengal right for you?
The first question you must ask yourself is – why do you want a Bengal? Are you looking for a family pet, a show cat, a “wild animal in the home”, a companion for an invalid, an apartment cat, or are you thinking of breeding Bengals? You need to examine your reasons for buying a Bengal carefully before spending four hundred pounds or much more on an animal with very specific needs.

Also

…it is important that you buy from a breeder that you feel comfortable with and whose advice you value. Your breeder should act as your mentor whilst your new Bengal is settling in and will be able to help with any problems that might arise. Genuine breeders will be dedicated to their cats and will be keen to know what happens to them after they leave their care. Some breeders keep their cats in the home, others in catteries or in a combination of these. However they are kept, the Bengals should be friendly, well socialised and healthy, with shiny fur, clean bottoms and bright eyes.

I have own, shown and bred the wonderful Bengal for more than fifteen years (since 1991). We were known initially as Australis and are now known as Bengarlis.

We brought the first & original pair of Bengals into Australia. Glamourcats Roosevelt (F4) and Leopardline Bettina (F3)who came imported from Jean Mills (USA), they gave us only 2 litters.

Their daughters Australis Chelsea Blue, Sunbright and Ladybird were the ambassadors, along with our English imports Starwinds Dynamic Design and Starwinds Golden Aura, were the first Bengals in Australia to be registered with the governing council, and so the registered Bengal in Australia finally had acceptance as a registered purebred.

One of the most terrifying experiences would have to be having the Bengal cat road tested on Burkes Backyard. Between 13 mischeivous bengals,camera crew, lighting crew, director and staff – throw in 4 curious children and half the primary school and you have chaos waiting to happen – quite an experience. But again we endured.

As the children grew and departed our, cats stayed home and consoled us, pleased at the extra beds to sleep on. Roosevelt lived to be a good age and only went to cat heaven recently.

Our love for the Bengal and the wonderful experiences that have delighted many happy homes has been a very forefilling experience. One of our British imports Starwinds Dynamic Design is still producing beautiful kittens competing along with his sons Largerfeld and Nomattawott as dad of the year.

Our aim has always been to produce beautiful bengals.Even as an experienced breeder it is impossible to predict what sex,colour and type of kitten produced. We strive for excellence, not only for type but temperment, and the luxurious, glittered pelt that is highly desired.

Our kittens are raised indoors and under foot and are well socialised with children and animals. Our present head midwife is an 8 year old shihztu,who oversees all new arrivals and takes her nanny role very seriously.

As kittens are born they are posted on our web site,for all to share in watching them go through their various changes. Pet quality kittens are some times available and come fully vetted and desexed.
